Pets cannot tell us when something is wrong, and many instinctively hide pain. Changes in behavior are often the first clue.
Contact your vet if you notice a loss of appetite lasting more than a day, repeated vomiting or diarrhea, difficulty breathing, straining to urinate, sudden lethargy, limping, or unusual swelling.
Collapse, labored breathing, a swollen belly, suspected poisoning or any serious injury need immediate care. Keep your nearest emergency clinic's number saved.
You know your animal best. If something feels off, a quick call to your vet is always reasonable.
